Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
